This map cheats both rural and urban people by splitting SLC region into 3 and thus, keeps their representative from focusing on unique properties. Very gerrymandered.
Marilyn L Larriva
Do not use this map. This map splits SLC/SLcty, a community of interest and does not follow the standards of Proposition 4. Use the Escamilla-Owens-Map. This E-O map gives a Rep for the South, North and two Reps to cover the population centers.
Jesse Hewitt
This map doesn't look to be competitive nor proportional to Utah's electorate.
Alex Obbard
Terrible map, obviously gerrymandered, splitting communities. I think this is the worst map I've reviewed yet...
Amy Hale
This map perpetuates gerrymandering, cutting municipalities with common interests up while combining disparate areas of Utah together into a district. Please do not select this map.

This map perpetuates gerrymandering, cutting municipalities with common interests up while combining disparate areas of Utah together into a district.
Ali Griffin
This would be a great example to help kids in political science classes understand what gerrymandering means. The representation doesn't make any sense, why is our biggest city sliced so oddly? I'd be voting with people in Moab rather than my neighbors a few blocks away.
Wendy Zeigler
This map divides, it does not follow the court order of keeping neighborhoods/communities together. This is important for Congressional districts.
Jayne Barnett
This map is a true example of gerrymandering to favor the GOP
Susan Sherman
This is the same type of gerrymandering that the original maps got into trouble. Was this version created by someone from Idaho? That shouldn't even be allowed. Only Utah people should be allowed to draw and make comments. The separating of West Valley from SLC is one way the dominating party wants to keep control.
Elise Nielsen
This map is a clear example of gerrymandering. By carving up Salt Lake, it prevents residents from having representation that reflects their shared community interests. Splitting the city dilutes the voices of its people and makes it harder for any representative to truly meet the needs of those living there.
Howard Horwitz
More sheer gerrymandering. Communities divided; sprawling, poorly aligned districts. Does not follow principles of Proposition 4.
Malcolm Wilson
This map perpetuates the gerrymandering of the 2010 and 2020 redistricting maps. It divides up Salt Lake county in 'pie-slice' pieces reducing the responsibilities of representatives to the needs of Salt Lake residents. It is contrary to the goals of Proposition 4 and does not allow fair representation of the residents in the state who live in Salt Lake County, the largest county in the state.
Martin Shupe
This map fails to keep Salt Lake County, the most populous county in our state with 34% of the entire state population as a single community of interest. This map goes against allowing a single group to choose its own representative. The power of the citizenry is diluted with any division of this county.
Brittany Passmore
This definitely feels like a gerrymandered map, splitting up Salt Lake County so strangely. I also find it odd how Utah County is split up; it makes more sense to try to keep that county together in one district.
Lauren Miller
This map is gerrymandered. This map splits Salt Lake County into 4 different districts. This map is partisan and doesn't represent Utah voters. There are 4 steps to create fair maps, and this map includes 0 of the 4 steps. Step 1: Districts should have a regular shape, avoiding "shoestring" or "earmuff" formations designed to capture or exclude specific voters. Step 2: All parts of a district must be geographically connected. Step 3: Where possible, districts should respect pre-existing municipal, county, or other political boundaries. Step 4: Districts should be drawn to keep communities with shared interests together.
Jake Dustin
You know, if you told me that this was the map named deliberate gerrymander, I'd believe you.
Connor Duffy
This map is inconsistent with the intent of Prop 4. It divides the largest population center and merges it with rural areas, while also fragmenting counties and cities, which undermines fair representation.
Ryan Lufkin
More of the same gerrymandering that got us to where we are. Urban and rural voters share different perespectives and concerns. Stop trying to make voters in Millcreek vote with voters in Grand County! Just ridiculous!
Michelle Greene
This is not much different than the map we already have and does not follow Prop 4
Jason Lyons
This map does not follow the requirements of Proposition 4. It divides Salt Lake County into multiple districts in a way that stretches across very different regions and communities, which weakens compactness and undermines community representation. The map creates unnecessary splits that fail to keep communities of interest intact.
Raeleen A Sanchez
I do not like this map as it divides SL and UT counties into three districts, completely diluting their constituency.
Nicholas Guyaux
This map fails to follow Proposition 4. This divides communities unnecessarily across multiple districts. Each district should try to be as contained as possible to represent similar communities. This map fails to do that.
Jessica DeAlba
Something I am more on board with on this map is having areas of the most growth be in district 3. However, splitting up many cities in salt lake county does not make sense no does having the southern end of Utah county be apart of the rest of middle and southern Utah. There are too many conflicting ways of life and equal representation would be nearly impossible. We need to at least keep entire cities together and ways of life.
ROBERT MARKHAM
This map is terrible. I combines most of the urban areas with the rural areas and splits Salt Lake County into 3 districts. Urban communities have diferent needs and concerns than rural areas.
Hayden H
This map is blatant gerrymandering. There is no need to crack Salt Lake County into so many separate districts. I am very against this map.
Matthew Gardner
This is not good as it does not keep the rural areas separate from the suburban areas. They are different demographics with different needs.
Jane Rollins
Salt Lake County should not be divided into three districts. That is illogical and will never adequately reflect the needs of the people there.
William Lentz
This map cuts up communities, including mine, in a non-logical and gerrymandered fashion. It does not give urban areas a united voice and true representation. My representative in district 1 could never represent my interests in Canyon Rim while also trying to represent most of eastern rural Utah. With this map I have neighbors to the west, north and south that are within several miles of me and are placed into other districts, for no logical reason. The communities all have the same interests and concerns and should be represented collectively. This map splits up communities in odd ways that should instead be grouped together to ensure proper representation of those areas of Utah. It seems to split up neighborhoods to the point that two neighbors could be in completely different districts. Also, the needs and concerns of the rural corners of Utah are going to be different than the more population dense urban centers and both need to be represented.
Christian Hansen
This is trash trying to pretend that its not gerrymandering SLC into pieces. The little fingers spreading into tiny sections of neighborhoods shows just how insidious and bad faith this map is.
Marilyn Larriva
Splitting SLC does not fairly group similar communities. This map does not comply with Proposition 4 which provided for multiple measures and metrics to be used to determine if the boundaries are fair to all parties and urged the Legislature to respect the will of the voters who passed the initiative
Dominique Marie Bellanger
But should not be splitting similar communities like West Valley and Taylorsville
kendall wilcox
unfairly splits up population centers and creates unequal representation between rural and urban voters
Tricia Ferre
Once again, this map like most of them chop up Salt Lake and adds rural areas with it. Salt Lake and rural areas have different needs.
CATHY Campbell
Map too full of comments that I'm not sure which area I clicked. Stop splitting SL County.
Kendra Hurst
I don't understand why communities would be split this way -this combines the needs of rural/urban/and suburban communities in a way that is difficult to balance. This is not a well represented map.
Michelle Mourtgos
It does not make sense to split Millcreek, Murray, Holladay off like this into a separate district. This is one contiguous community with similar interests as their neighbors in Sugar House and Sandy. Connecting them to Tremonton and Vernal does not make sense.
Michelle Mourtgos
It does not make sense to combine Tooele County and Davis County to make a district. Even though they appear next to each other on the map, the lake in between means that these communities are not closely connected.
Kylie Frederick
This splits Salt Lake City into 3 districts. And then district 1 goes all the way to the East and North border from Salt Lake City, while District 2 goes all the way to the west border.. areas that are not similar to Salt Lake City. In this case, I would live in District 1, work part-time, recreate, and shop mainly in District 2, and work full-time in district 3. There is absolutely no way you split a city 3 ways and fairly or accurately represent those people.
Megan Bates
Once again, you are gerrymandering--breaking up Salt Lake County. Urban v rural is a huge and growing divide in politics. Pew Research Center (2024) found "The urban-rural divide, already a major factor in presidential elections, grew in 2024 as rural voters favored Trump by an even larger margin than they did in 2020." Urban Salt Lake County should be kept together as much as possible.
Kathleen Millar
If Davis was part of District 1 and the West side of Salt Lake County along I-15 /Jordan River line or as far east as the Wasatch Mountains, and south until Riverton/Draper, was part of District 2 that would be more representative of the Salt Lake and Davis community areas better. Utah Counties District 3 could take back more of its actual population along the Urban area.
Cameron Bigler
Just a slightly less obvious attempt at muting SL County voices.
Jackson Lewis
same map that was struck down but in a more family friendly version
Mark Mason Taylor
I don't understand how splitting on the midvale sandy border makes sense. Most people who live in this area can't tell the difference.
