Map C exemplifies the very issue Proposition 4 sought to prevent. By fragmenting communities in a way that disproportionately benefits one political party, it undermines the principles of fair representation and public trust. This approach highlights the urgent need for independent, nonpartisan redistricting.
Margaret Kluthe
Splits SLC area and denies voters representation! Very gerrymandered. Do not use this map.
Lacey Zimmermann
I strongly oppose this map as it splits communities apart. We deserve to have our communities represented as a whole with Salt Lake City kept together.
Timothy Heaton
This map appears as gerrymandered as the old one that is being replaced. It's clearly designed to dilute the representation of one party in favor of another. Salt Lake County should not be split up.
Stanton Stevens
Gerrymandering, such as this map, is cheating, plain and simple. No to this map.
Crystalee Beck
This is clearly a carved map of gerrymandering. Nice try, GOP. No way this is fair.
Marc Midura
The Utah republican party has emailed voters asking them to support Map C because any other map, "If adopted, the Democrats could gain control of Congress". This is an admission of the partisan bias of Map C by the Utah republican party. As such, it should not be considered.
Zachariah Pecchia-Bekkum
Awful map. A gerrymandering of SLC county again to remove representation from the people who live here.
Sarah Palmer
This map perpetuates gerrymandering. It's showing how disgusting our leaders are trying to do a unethical power grab.
Alex Obbard
Terrible map, obviously gerrymandered.
Crystalee Beck
As a business owner and mother of four children, I want to see fair elections in Utah. This map is not fair or representative. It's designed to favor one party, and continue the GOP stronghold. I strongly oppose this map.
Rachel Shanae Tate
This map is so obviously rigged to favor the current people in power. It has split up the urban areas and combined them with large swaths of rural areas. What do these voters have in common? Why would these boundaries make sense for Utah voters?
Why do we have to keep redoing these maps when Utah voters obviously voted for fair maps? Why can't the legislature and the people who are supposed to represent Utahns actually listen to us?
Amy Hale
This map perpetuates gerrymandering, cutting municipalities with common interests up while combining disparate areas of Utah together into a district. The way the fingers of district two and three reach for their constituents is comically bad.
Crystalee Beck
How dare the GOP try to dodge a Utah Supreme Court order for fair maps ... with an unfair map like this. SL County should NOT be diced and sliced to preserve power for the GOP. This is not only flipping off the Utah Supreme Court, but also the constituents who already voted for fair maps. NO to Map C. NO to GOP cheating. NO to lack of accountability. Please LISTEN to your constituents.
Jessica Mertlich
This is almost comical the level of gerrymandering that is evident by simply looking at the shape of the split on the map. It deliberately separates communities of interest and there is zero justification other than political gain.
Wayne Hansen
Textbook Gerrymandering
Annika Suchoski
No. Maps must be drawn by nonpartisan, independent groups. That's the will of the people.
Jayne Barnett
This map is terrible. A total example of gerrymandering.
Kristine Gates
Deliberate gerrymandering. Not even close to following Prop 4.
Chad Smith
This is a bad map, as designed to show gerrymandering. As pointed out, it’s compliant with Brammer’s proposed bill. And as this map helps demonstrate, Brammer’s bill sucks.
Quit trying to get away with whatever unethical power grab you think you can plausibly defend as being technically legal. We see you, and you are making us lose faith in our government. The founding fathers would be harsh in their criticism of your repeated attempts, and you know it. You should be ashamed!
Malcolm Wilson
This map perpetuates the gerrymandering of the 2010 and 2020 redistricting maps. It divides up Salt Lake county in 'pie-slice' pieces reducing the responsibilities of representatives to the needs of Salt Lake residents. It is contrary to the goals of Proposition 4 and does not allow fair representation of the residents in the state who live in Salt Lake County, the largest county in the state.
Martin Shupe
This map fails to keep Salt Lake County, the most populous county in our state with 34% of the entire state population as a single community of interest. This map goes against allowing a single group to choose its own representative. The power of the citizenry is diluted with any division of this county.
Lauren Miller
This map is gerrymandered. This map splits Salt Lake County into 4 different districts. This map is partisan and doesn't represent Utah voters. There are 4 steps to create fair maps, and this map includes 0 of the 4 steps. Step 1: Districts should have a regular shape, avoiding "shoestring" or "earmuff" formations designed to capture or exclude specific voters.
Step 2: All parts of a district must be geographically connected.
Step 3: Where possible, districts should respect pre-existing municipal, county, or other political boundaries.
Step 4: Districts should be drawn to keep communities with shared interests together.
Jake Dustin
At least this one is honest about what it is being.
Connor Duffy
This map is inconsistent with the intent of Prop 4. It divides the largest population center and merges it with rural areas, while also fragmenting counties and cities, which undermines fair representation.
KALYAN KARKI
This map sucks.
Ryan Lufkin
Cutting the cities of Salt Lake County up into little chunks, willy-nilly, to accomplish your gerrymandering goals... dumb.
Ian Wade
None of the maps match those drawn by the Independent Commission called for by Proposition 4. This Proposition was upheld by Utah District and Supreme courts, Rather than having 5 republican and 1 democratic map to choose from, any of the Independent commission maps should be used to put an end to gerrymandering attempts.
Michelle Greene
This is horrendous as it does nothing to promote any semblance of fairness
Jason Lyons
This map does not follow the requirements of Proposition 4. It divides Salt Lake County into multiple districts in a way that stretches across very different regions and communities, which weakens compactness and undermines community representation. The map creates unnecessary splits that fail to keep communities of interest intact.
Raeleen A Sanchez
This map splits 3 counties, again gerrymandering to dilute SL County's voice. It also splits the areas with the greatest current growth, giving disadvantage to the areas of Summit, Utah and Wasatch Counties. I cannot support this map.
Raeleen A Sanchez
I am opposed to all redistricting maps prepared by Utah State Legislative members. The Public voted for an independent redistricting committee and all proposed maps to be considered should be prepared by that committee!
Michael Harris
This map is an obvious gerrymander and completely goes against Prop. 4.
Jackie Vatsend
This map is terrible, showcasing gerrymandering.
Danica M Puente
Seriously? This is gerrymandering at its finest. This map does everything it can to split up urban populations in the most ridiculous way.
Jessica DeAlba
I am very concerned with the motives behind this map, especially concerning the boundary lines of District 2 and 3. It does not follow logical boundaries, it splits up school districts, counties, cities, people with similar ways of life. Deliberate Gerrymander 3 is an apt map title as this will only benefit whoever gets voted into office but no one else they represent.
ROBERT MARKHAM
This map is terrible. Salt Lake City is in the same district as Wayne County. This makes no sense. This type of gerrymandering should not be allowed.
Dana Rae Dake
This will pit neighbor against neighbor. Please start over to create areas of similar interests.
Hayden H
This map is bizarre. Salt Lake County has very different needs than those of western rural Utah. Does not make sense other than intentionally diluting Salt Lake voters.
Matthew Gardner
This is clearly gerrymandered, as noted in the name, and several other maps have similar looks.
Marilyn Lisa Larriva
This does not comply with Proposition 4 which provided for multiple measures and metrics to be used to determine if the boundaries are fair to all parties.
Sandra Allen
This map looks like it was designed to divide communities of interest. Millcreek doesn’t have a lot in common with South Western Utah.
Derrek Larson
This map separates communities of interest, such as Millcreek, Cottonwood Heights, East Sandy, Granite and east SLC. Not only does it separate communities of interest, but it pairs Millcreek with St George and South Western Utah, places with very different needs and interests. It seems like another clear attempt to dilute the voices of people in Millcreek and SLCO.
Sam Stoops
just as the map title reads "deliberate gerrymander"
Amanda Roos
Splitting Salt Lake City is necessary and reasonable, but not like this. Splitting in two makes sense. More than that while combining urban and rural is deliberate gerrymandering and against the Prop 4. Cities and municipalities should not be sliced like pizza.
Dawn Wheeler
Now that is textbook gerrymandering. Look at that cute little shape. Just enough to give the GOP votes desired by the Legislature.
Dominique Marie Bellanger
These weird off shoots are not neat or logical an violates rule 4 of prop 4 about compact districts
Dominique Marie Bellanger
You cannot Marginalize Taylorsville away from other communities of interest
Dominique Marie Bellanger
We should not be combining rural and urban communities or they will not each have proper representation
Dominique Marie Bellanger
We should not be combining rural and urban communities or they will not each have proper representation
Kendra Hurst
I don't understand why communities would be split this way -this combines the needs of rural/urban/and suburban communities in a way that is difficult to balance. This is not a well represented map.
Megan Bates
Urban v rural is a huge and growing divide in politics. Pew Research Center (2024) found "The urban-rural divide, already a major factor in presidential elections, grew in 2024 as rural voters favored Trump by an even larger margin than they did in 2020." Urban Salt Lake County should be kept together as much as possible.
Kathleen Millar
This map wouldn't be so bad if Salt Lake County was divided correctly. Salt Lake's communities largely consist of those on the east side of the I-15/ Jordan River along the Wasatch and those on the West Side not quite to the Oquirrhs. When you divide the middle of those areas east to west you'll always see push back. The only real exception, in my ooh so humble opinion, is the more agricultural centered area's that are just beginning to lose those roots. Along the Oquirrhs West Jordan, South Jordan, Riverton, might relate closer to the Utah County Ag Community in some instances.
Cameron Bigler
There are clearly better ways to divide the map that does not divide SL County into large rural areas.
